Our “Jersey of the Month” is the race leader’s jersey from the Cactus Cup. We are proud to display the coveted leader’s jersey at MMC thanks to our great friend and racer, Mike Hicks.
The Cactus Cup is one of the top mountain bike races in the country and is held each year at our local McDowell Mountain Regional Park. The races has attracted thousands of riders for over 25 years and has seen many top pro riders competing for the prize money and honors of wearing the “leader’s jersey.”
In addition to being such a great mountain bike race event, the Cactus Cup has become a festival, of sorts, with a weekend filled with family activities, kid’s races, food, beer garden, entertainment, and a host of other fun things to do. The Melley family does a tremendous job of putting on this long standing keystone event AND it’s in our backyard!
This year the Cactus Cup was postponed from its normal Spring time slot because of the pandemic and will be held this month on October 16-18. The format will be a bit different than previous years due to COVID-19 precautions, but we know Sage and Mike will put together another great event. Get out and enjoy. Race fast enough and you can “be like Mike” and win a leader’s jersey like the one at MMC.
