The Chino Grinder, presented by Lauf Cycling, has become one of the premier events in Arizona cycling and has established itself as one of the top gravel events in the country. This was the 5th year for the event and hundreds of riders from around the country lined up to compete in the 115 mile, 62, 44 and 25 miles options. The 115 miles endurance event was far and away the big draw with a big field of pros, former pros and top tier riders leading the way from the small town of Chino Valley, just north of Prescott.
Our MMC ride crew was well represented in all distances and we were really proud to be a big part of the event. We were also proud to have some podium finishes, including Marie Boone, the fourth overall female and second, behind race winner and pro, Alison Tetrick, in her age group. I was fortunate to pick up the win in the 60 plus age group and Brock Kruse, Dale Agar, Jeff Huntley, Joe Brown, Anthony Casarona, Stephanie Maialetti , Todd Voris, and Jamie Brooks were also there as well as many of our Sunday FunDay Gravel folks.
The Chino Grinder is presented by our good friends, Craig and Minnie Swetel and Az Gravel. Craig, Minnie and their staff of volunteers do an amazing job in hosting the event and supporting the riders. If you want to be a part of a great event, with great sponsors, riders, and race support, plan to do the Chino Grinder next May 5th. I promise it is always a day to remember, Pedal well,
